You and I have an innate survival mechanism. It’s called negativity bias.

It means our brains are always looking out for danger – to protect us from the thing that will threaten our lives, our safety, and our comfort – and historically this has kept our species alive. (Thanks, Brain!)

But today, this same survival mechanism can stop us from following through with desired changes that are unfamiliar and uncomfortable – like diet and lifestyle shifts.

That’s when it’s so helpful to become aware of how your brain works, and then, give your brain a wink and move forward anyway.

Here’s the best, most fun, and most important part:

Move your attention to the possibilities of what you will experience when you achieve your desired change or desired goal.

Consider all the good things that will come from it!

How will you feel? What will you do differently in your life? What will you create? How will this affect your mood, your confidence, your work, your home, your relationships?

Spend time visualizing it… feel it in your body. Let these thoughts light you up!

Doing this will build your belief in the value of achieving your goal and help you move forward toward it.
